Adding Apache Handlers in cPanel Flash Tutorial
Adding Apache Handlers through your cPanel control
panel allows you, the client, to specify how files with different
filename extensions are handled by the server.
For example with the standard settings all HTML pages,
JPGs, and GIFs are sent as-is from the server when they are requested
by your visitors. PHP and Perl scripts are handled differently because
they are parsed by the server before being sent.
Adding an Apache Handler could turn any extension into
one that is parsed and interpreted by the server before being sent. You
could specify that all files ending in .perl are Perl scripts and
should be interpreted before sending.
Some people get confused between MIME types and Apache
handlers. The difference is that MIME types inform your visitors' web
browser how to display the file, while Apache Handlers tell the browser
how to send it.
The following flash tutorial guides you through adding
Apache Handlers in cPanel control panel.
