Password Protecting a Directory in cPanel Flash Tutorial

Larger sites that create their own website administration scripts, or have files only available for certain users, may choose to password protect one or more directories on their website.

Once a directory is password protected, whenever anyone attempts to access the directory or a file within it they will be asked for a username and password. Management of which usernames and passwords have access to which directories is totally within your control.

To minimize the slight inconvenience of entering the password for each page, our servers will only require your visitors to authenticate themselves once per viewing session.

The following flash tutorial guides you through Password Protecting a Directory in cPanel control panel.

See further cPanel Flash tutorials or our support pages for more information. The answers to general and pre-purchase questions can be seen in our FAQ.

Please contact us if you have a question that is not answered on our site.
